Netflix appears to be developing an AAA PC shooter at its new Los Angeles studio led by the former guard producer and Blizzard vice president Chacko Sonny.
According to the report of mobilegamer.biz, the aptly named Netflix Games Studio is looking for a game director with shooter experience to work on “a brand new AAA PC game”. Similar to Overwatch, it looks to be a live-serve game as Netflix demands “extensive experience” in the department.
In a similar way, applicants must have a “deep understanding of highly engaging content and how it is delivered” and “have a deep passion for social systems and gameplay, both collaborative and compete”.
Work list also asked the future director to develop a world, characters, and story “worthy of a Netflix series or TV series” and build the game in the Unreal Engine.
The job listing doesn’t offer too much other than that Netflix is looking for someone with at least ten years of game design experience, including stints as a director. However, since this looks to be the initial wave of hiring for a brand new studio, it could be years before we learn more about what Netflix’s AAA game is all about.
The entertainment streaming giant has entered the video game industry slowly but surely by buying some mobile game developers in the last two years, but there was a much bigger leap in October 2022 when it opens Netflix Games Studio.

Talking about Sonny’s move in, Netflix’s Vice President of Gaming, Mike Verdu, said: “He could do anything, but he chose to come here. You can’t invite people like that to the nest. organization to build the next big thing in gaming unless it feels like we’re really into it for a long time and for the right reasons.”
In the past, Netflix has also not been shy about its goals in the gaming space, saying in January 2022 that it aims to be the “absolute best” game service in industry.
