AMSTERDAM: The Dutch intelligence agency said on Thursday that it had discovered a Russian military spy trying to use a false identity to infiltrate the International Criminal Court.ICC) is investigating allegations of war crimes in Ukraine.

The Dutch Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) said in a statement that a man with the alias Viktor Muller Ferreira was picked up at a Dutch airport. He was declared an unwanted alien and put on a subsequent flight back to Brazil, where he faced court proceedings, it added.
“It clearly shows us what the Russians are doing – trying to gain illegal access to information in the ICC. We classify this as a high-level threat,” added Akerboom, adding that the ICC had get him into an internship.
There was no immediate comment on the incident from Brazilian authorities, the Russian government or the ICC.
The Dutch agency said it had taken the unusual step of disclosing details of the incident in order to expose Russian intelligence activities and the threat to other international organisations.
It distributed a four-page document outlining what it said was Cherkasov’s fabricated cover story. That includes a supposedly troubled family history and details from a club where he enjoys listening to electronic trance music and his favorite restaurant in Brasilia, where he will eat stew Cheap brown beans.
“Cherkasov used a well-constructed identity cover to conceal all of his ties to Russia in general and the GRU in particular,” the statement said.
The ICC, a permanent global war crimes tribunal with 123 member states, opened an investigation in Ukraine just days after Putin sent troops on February 24. It is looking into the allegations. accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
