Version 1.1a is being directed by Ryoji Masuyama, who previously worked on KILL is KILL, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (No) Move On and Mission: 3.0+1.01 Three times at onceas Film Gurren Lagann.

NieR:Automata Ver1.1a will begin airing in Japan on January 7, 2023. At the moment, it’s not entirely clear when it will premiere on Crunchyroll. However, streaming services usually reserve the right to start showing anime in the West within 24 hours of their original airing time, so time will tell if Nier are treated equally.
