North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile toward the sea off South Korea’s east coast on Sunday, ahead of planned large-scale military drills, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said. of South Korean and American forces involved an aircraft carrier.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday that North Korea may be preparing to test-fire a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), according to South Korean military sources.

The launch comes after the US aircraft carrier arrived in South Korea to participate in joint exercises with South Korean forces, and ahead of a visit scheduled for next week by US Vice President Kamala Harris.
