oklahoma: Tornadoes strike Texas, Oklahoma; more storms in forecast
SEMINOLE: A storm system spawned a number of tornado scanned the areas of Texas and Oklahomadamage a school, a cannabis farm, and other structures.
There were no reports of serious injuries following Wednesday night’s tornado, but the system did cause flooding in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, and more stormy weather unfolded on Thursday.
Significant damage was reported in the Oklahoma city of Seminole, about 60 miles (97 km) southeast of Oklahoma City, where Gov. Kevin Stitt said damage assessments were underway after he toured the area on Thursday.
“(We) get all the resources and supplies the city wants and needs, including generators,” says Stitt.
According to Oklahoma Gas & Electric, more than 63% of customers in the city were still without power in Seminole late Thursday afternoon.
Seminole Academy was hit directly but no one was injured, the school said on Facebook.

Several roads and highways were closed Thursday morning in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas because of flash flooding.
In Bixby, Oklahoma, located south of Tulsa, officials opened a temporary shelter at a church after a thunderstorm flooded several homes and streets in a neighborhood.
In East Texas, Sheriff Johnwayne Valdez told KTRE-TV, a tornado on Thursday damaged several campers and buildings at the RV park in Rusk County. Valdez said no injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service’s office in Norman, Oklahoma, said Wednesday a “major and dangerous tornado” was detected in the rural community of Lockett, about 170 miles (275 km) from Dallas. northwest, the National Weather Service office in Norman, Oklahoma.

The storms, which are moving east into southern US states, could bring more tornadoes, heavy hail and damaging winds, and the threat of severe weather will continue into Friday in parts of the South and over the weekend in the Central Plains and Midwest, the weather service said.
