ISLAMABAD – A suicide car bomb attack at a checkpoint in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Friday killed a police official and wounded several others, police said.
“Our initial information said there was a man and a woman in the vehicle,” Islamabad’s chief of operations, Sohail Zafar, told reporters, adding that the vehicle was not stopped at the checkpoint as the police tried to stop it.
“As they chased it, the people in the car blew it up.
“It was a suicide explosion,” he said, adding that at least six more people were injured.
