MANILA, Philippines—Magnolia played nonstop all night Sunday to take down Barangay Ginebra, 118-88, in a new two-club showdown at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Saving the first six minutes of the game, the Hotshots were sharp throughout the night for their second straight win after losing their first three games in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Leading for Magnolia was Antonio Hester, who assisted a triple-double with 28 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists.
Mark Barroca edged the locals with 21 points as Paul Lee and Calvin Abueva each hit 18 in an attempt to break the defending champion’s three-match winning streak.
It was a well-deserved payoff for the Hotshots, who squandered their lead in their most recent encounter in October. Gin Kings won that match 103-97.
