PFRDA: Subscribers under the PFRDA pension scheme increase 24 calculators to more than 5.32 cr at the end of May 22
Atal Pension Yojana (APY) – the highest contributor to the subscriber base – registered a 31.6% growth to 3.72 crore at the end of May this financial year.
The number of people registered under the NPS for central government employees increased 5.28% to 22.97 lakh, while that for state governments increased by 7.70% to 56.40 lakh.
For the corporate sector, the number of NPS subscribers increased by 26.83% to 14.69 lakh, while that for all citizens increased by 39.11% to 23.61 lakh at the end of May, data shows.
According to the NPS Lite category, which has not allowed new registrations since April 2015, the number of subscribers has decreased by 2.7% to 41.85 lakh.
Total assets under management (AUM) under the two schemes increased 21.5% to Rs 7.38 lakh crore as of May 31, 2022.
AUM according to APY stands at Rs 21,142, while NPS accounts for the remaining Rs 7,17,172.
APY is primarily targeted at providing post-retirement social security benefits to people working in the unorganized sector and constitutes a large portion of employment in the country.
