Plastic pollution: New insights
Anjana Pasi, Director of MiniKlub said, “It’s just a small step we’re taking towards a sustainable nation. The collection made from recycled plastic is completely safe and skin-friendly. It’s good. for the environment because we’re creating new products out of old products that either end up in the trash or are no longer useful to us.”

She goes on and explains the process how PET bottles can be recycled and used to produce premium fibers. “The pure version of polyester woven fabric is ‘Recycled Polyester’. Recycled polyester is known to use PET as its raw material, the same material being used in clear plastic water bottles, and recycle it to fabric prevents water from going to landfill. Here are the steps involved in the PET bottle recycling production process:

The first and most important step is to collect the PET bottles which are sterilized, dried and then pressed into small flakes. These chips are then heated and passed through a plate called a spinneret to form strands of fibers. This yard is then rolled up in spools, and the yarn is then passed through a bending machine to obtain a soft texture. Finally, the yarn is dyed and knitted into a polyester fabric. ”
She also adds, “About 6 bottles are being recycled to make t-shirts, 6 bottles to make bodysuits, 9 bottles to make pajamas, 5 bottles to make leggings and 9 bottles to make skirts, PET is as good as polyester pure, but requires less resources to execute.”
