Pokémon Go Fest’s Special Research Mission feature Shaymin, the mythical Pokémon from the Sinnoh region. Research branches out into different paths depending on what you want to focus on throughout the day, and you can even choose how difficult the task is for you. Our Shaymin Special Study Guide lists all the quests and rewards for unlocking Shaymin.
Note that you must buy Pokémon Go Fest tickets for $14.99 to unlock this set of research quests. To get it, you need to own the card and open the game on June 4th. If you do this, you will unlock the set and can be completed at any time.
If you want Shaymin but don’t want to pay for a ticket, don’t worry – Shaymin will have another set of Special Research Quests later this year for everyone to unlock.
Below, we list all of Shaymin’s Special Research Quests.
Shaymin’s special study step 1/7
- Send gifts to friends (2 Huong)
- Use Incense (22 Poké Balls)
- Catch 10 Pokémon (2 Pinap Berries)
Reward: 2 Razz Berries, 2 Pofins, 2,022 XP
After this point, you will be tasked with choosing the theme you want to complete the missions: fight, capture or explore. You should just pick whatever suits your playstyle and preferences for Go Fest.

Combat Missions
- Use TM for charge (2 potions)
- Power up a Pokémon 3 times (2 Super Potion)
- Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms (2 Hyper Potions)
Reward: 2 Max Potions, Land Forme Shaymin Shirt, 2 Max Revives
Catch the quest
- Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms (22 Poké Balls)
- Complete 3 field research missions (2 Razz fruits)
- Earn 3 hearts with your best friend (2 Lucky Eggs)
Reward: 2,022 XP, Shaymin Land Forme Shirt, 22 Poké Balls
Explore quests
- Open 3 gifts (2 Incubators)
- Send 3 gifts to friends (22 Poké Balls)
- Give your best friend 3 rewards (2,022 XP)
Reward: 2 Lucky Eggs, Shaymin Land Forme Shirt, 2,022 Stardust
After this point, you can choose a harder difficulty to complete the mission. The rewards you get don’t increase depending on your difficulty, but they will affect the sticker set you get in the end.
For the sake of readability, all of our assignments below are for “comfortable” difficulty.
