Powerful Force with New Star Wars Trailer: Jedi Surivor

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor has remained silent for most of its development cycle, but a leak earlier this week suggests we don’t have to wait long for a big sequel. That info was confirmed in tonight’s trailer at The Game Awards, so now we know for sure that the game is targeting a March 17 launch.

The trailer accompanies a visit by Cal Kestis himself, Cameron Monaghan. The actor will return to play the besieged Jedi in the sequel, and he was on hand to watch after the trailer to discuss his enthusiasm for the game.

For fans eagerly anticipating the new details, the trailer offers a lot to ponder. We see that Cal looks like a gray-haired and stronger Jedi than the last time we saw him training to be a knight. That fact is perhaps most strongly indicated by the presence of a jagged beard – a sure sign of cosmic mastery in the Star Wars universe, if any.

As depicted in the trailer, Jedi Survivor begins about 5 years after the adventure described in Fallen Order. Returning companions include the droid BD-1 and Cere Junda, but we also meet a new mercenary named Bode Akuna. In one sequence, we see Bode strike in tandem with Cal, suggesting there may be some sort of cooperative dynamic.

The new video also reveals that Cal has access to several new ways to navigate the game world, including an ascension cable that seems to replicate what we’ve seen from grappling guns in many games to other in recent years. The Jedi also seem to have embraced his love of nature, as we see him tame and ride horses.

In another scene, we see Cal apply new fighting techniques, including some cool, nimble moves with dual lightsabers in hand. In another notable moment near the end of the trailer, he flips off the blade of a cross lightsaber, showing that Kylo Ren isn’t the first Force user to rediscover that ancient blade design. .

The trailer also gives us a look at two dangerous new enemies for Cal, one of whom looks as if they could be wearing at least some parts of Mandalorian armor.

We’re also seeing Cal crashland on a planet that doesn’t appear to be a familiar Star Wars site, so it’s possible we’re getting our first glimpse of a new planet in the near future. novel.

A one-armed man is seen near the beginning of the trailer in a bacta tank (recreated on stage for The Game Awards); it’s clear that Respawn is playing cards near the chest about exactly who this character is – it’s most likely someone pretty central to the story going.

The trailer leaves a lot of questions for debate, but it’s certain that the Respawn sequel looks like a visual treat and hints that the game should offer a series of Star Wars stories. new to mull over when it’s released in a few months.

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 17.
