Priscilla Presley’s wedding dress remade for Elvis
Olivia DeJonge played the role of Priscilla Presley in 2022 by Baz Luhrmann Movie “Elvis”which Austin Butler stars as the King of Rock and Roll. The biography chronicles Elvis Presley’s relationship with his former manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Described by Tom Hanks) and Parker’s effect on the attenuation of Elvis’ career. Throughout, we see a glimpse of his life and, naturally, his relationship with Priscilla, whom he married on May 1, 1967, at the hotel Aladdin in Las Vegas. Luhrmann’s wife, costume designer Catherine Martin, famous for “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Gatsby,” worked with her team to recreate a version of a wedding dress that Priscilla found on a shelf while she was doing disguise shopping in Memphis, TN, to does not lead any trace of proof she will get married. The dress, purchased individually and worn only once late at night, comes complete with beaded, embroidered bishop’s long sleeves and a row of buttons on each wrist. It was finished with a 3 meter long veil, topped with a rhinestone tiara, and Priscilla dyed her hair a darker shade of brown to match Elvis.
[Martin] believes that the wedding dress is the most noticeable copy of all 159 minutes of the film.
Martin, who collaborated with Miuccia Prada on much of Priscilla’s ’60s wardrobe and also ordered vintage pieces for the film (which totaled 9,000 outfits), believes the wedding dress is copy is the most noticeable of all 159 minutes of the film, even though we only see it briefly. Martin explained to POPSUGAR: “We had detailed photos from our archives of what the laces looked like and we purchased several different types of lanyards that were stitched together meticulously to create recreate the look as close as possible. “It’s completely hand beaded and peared and has multiple layers of chiffon with silk underneath. A tulle hem is hand-stitched at the hem so it floats perfectly as Priscilla walks. The top of the dress is intricate. complicated and bottoms are so simple and effortless. Sometimes those things are the hardest to do, especially white or bridal, because they end up feeling overworked and overly emotional.”
According to Martin, DeJonge couldn’t believe how real and beautiful the dress looked on the first try. She said: “It was a pleasure to see all these beautiful crafts on Olivia’s actual figure.
For accessories, Martin asked a tailor to finish the crowns with ballet strings to complete the fixation for the veil, made from silk jade. While we don’t see the bridal shoes in the movie, Martin confirms they’re ’50s ivory satin heels that are actually ballroom ballroom shoes – akin to the stocking silhouette that they are. Priscilla was actually worn to her wedding. date and a recommendation of Martin’s bridal shoes, as they are high enough for elevation, nude to blend into the foot, and stable enough to jump in.
