MANILA, Philippines – Bernadeth Pons admits she is still adjusting to playing indoor volleyball after playing her first two games for Creamline at the 2023 English Premier League Volleyball (PVL) Invitation Conference.
Pons scored her first four at pro when she helped Creamline beat Gerflor, 25-18, 25-11, 25-12, to stay unbeaten in two games in Pool A on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.
“I am still practicing during the transition from the beach back to the indoor as well as adjusting to the Creamline system,” Pons said in Filipino after playing the last two sets of the match.
“I am very happy that we won the game despite the slow start. We were able to recover immediately. I’m grateful for the trust the coaches have given me as I’m still having a hard time getting back in the house,” she added.

The Far Eastern University standout admits she’s still adjusting to the tempo of the game after spending four years as a full-time athlete on the Philippine women’s beach volleyball team, winning two bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games with Sisi Rondina.
“When I came back, it was really a fast game and it was not easy to absorb and adapt. I’m still doing it every day, watching my team practice. My mindset is to be available whenever my number is called,” she added.
Alyssa Valdez praises Pons, who bring a different energy and great work ethic to their team.
“She brings another source of energy to the team and she is really professional. She was the first to come to practice to prepare. She will also be the last to come out,” the Creamline captain said in Filipino. “She is a great role model not only for the young players but also for the seniors in the team. It’s great that something can change, we welcome change in our team, change is Pons, so very welcome. Pons look good in pink.”
Pons will have more time to adjust as Creamline will have 13 days off before their next game against the PLDT on July 13 at the Philsports Arena.
