Random: Didn’t expect to see Sonic kiss someone again, says Sega
In a recent interview with Axios (thank, IGN), Sonic team leader Takashi Iizuka set some rules regarding the creation of games featuring Sega’s mascot, Sonic.
The first two sentences are relatively self-explanatory and are considered “official” rules: number one, Sonic needs to exhibit a strong sense of speed, and number two, Sonic’s inability to swim. Indeed, Iizuka went as far as to point out that Sonic requires the use of flotation devices during swimming events such as Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The third rule is more of an unofficially allowed addition to Iizuka, but it’s perhaps an important rule for the franchise’s reputation: Sonic will no longer kiss any human characters. any more – maybe. Iizuka simply said “I don’t think we’ll do it again” when discussing the infamous 2006 scene. Sonic the Hedgehog between Sonic himself and the character Princess Elise III.
So you go; we probably won’t see Sonic kiss any human characters from this point on. Having said that, a quick internet search will probably prove that people have a deep fondness for such a concept. Cheeky!
What do you think Iizuka’s rule for Sonic is? Reckon they mean? Let us know with a comment!
