Resident Evil Village is getting new DLC in October that will finally make its star, Lady Dimitrescu, playable, and today Capcom has finally showcased how she’ll be playing. Baroque furniture will be smashed and hordes of enemies will receive a 9’6″ stronghold. My guess is that Chris Redfield will be there too.
“Winters’ Expansion” launches on October 28, and it includes a third-person mode for the base game, as well as a new story DLC called “Shadows of Rose” that takes place over 16 years. after the events of the game. But the show-stealing continuation is an add-on to the Mercenaries arcade mode. This adds gun-wielding Chris Redfield and hammer-smashing Karl Heisenberg, to the playable list, and more importantly, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu herself.
This is how Capcom producer Tsuyoshi Kanda describes her gameplay in a new movie PlayStation blog post on Friday:
With a height of more than 9 meters, Lady Dimitrescu uses her claws to slash through enemies. Her unique Thrill Gauge stat increases when attacking enemies or by using the item “Lady’s Lipstick”. As Thrill Gauge increases, Lady Dimitrescu’s movement speed and claw damage increase, and new moves are also unlocked. When the gauge is maxed, her damage will also be at its highest.
While brief, the new gameplay trailer shows some of this in action, with Dimitrescu looking down on waves of lycans and zombies as she executes swift diabolical pipsqueaks. Her powers even include a callback of her virtual throwback moment that went viral on social media:
Lady D spends most of Resident Evil Village slowly stalking you and she’s rather invulnerable. It’ll be nice to turn the tables in the new DLC. Fill up her Thrill Gauge all the way and you’ll even be able to summon one of her three daughters to fight alongside you. Hopefully this is just the first step on the long road to a full-blown spin-off.
