Resigning is the right thing to do, says Olsen

Far Eastern University (FEU) is looking for its next UAAP coach.
After five years in charge and with one year remaining on his contract, Olsen Racela has stepped down as head coach of Tamaraws, a decision the school accepted only on Thursday.
“I feel it’s the right thing to do,” said Racela, who submitted his resignation after the FEU’s final game of the season.
Barangay Ginebra’s assistant coach added that he wants to give the FEU a clear means to restart a program he has put in place, one that focuses on winning the right way. right.
The FEU, in a Facebook post, thanked Racela for guiding the team to “class and always instill the right values.”
Tamaraws finished this season with a 5-9 record, missing the Finals for the first time since 2012. It was also the first time that Racela, often considered one of the best players to compete in the Half. Philippine Basketball Association, missed the semi-finals.
Racela, who replaced his brother Nash in 2017, has racked up 37 wins and 39 losses during his UAAP time, where he places an equal emphasis on process and results.
This is the second time the FEU has encountered a large and unexpected departure.
Last season, the team lost RJ Abarrientos, who decided to leave Tamaraws to sign Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League.
