Russian troops stationed in Belarus to begin military exercises


Russian army has been moved to Belarus in October to become part of a regional formation that will conduct battalion-level tactical exercises, Russia Interfax The news agency reported on Monday, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
“The final assessment of the combat capabilities and combat readiness of the units will be made by the commander at the final stage of coordination – after the battalion-level tactical exercises have been conducted,” contact quote the ministry statement.
It is not clear when and where the drills will be held in Belarus.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry said in October that 9,000 Russian troops were moving to the country as part of a “regional group” aimed at securing the country’s borders.
