NEW DELHI: The Calcutta Supreme Court on Sunday granted permission Executive Board (ED) to get Cabinet of West Bengal the state minister and former minister of education, Partha Chatterjeearrive AIIMS-Bhubaneswar by air ambulance early Monday.
He will be accompanied by a doctor from SSKM . Hospital and his advocate.
Specialist doctors at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar will examine Partha and he will most likely be brought before a special court in Kolkata, the court said.
The ED moved the court on Sunday challenging a lower court order sending Chatterjee to the state SSKM hospital. Justice Bibek Chaudhuri, after hearing the arguments of lawyers representing ED and Chatterjee, has reserved its judgment on the matter.
The central body objected to an order from Bankshall Court directing that Chatterjee be taken to the state SSKM hospital,
The lower court on Saturday annulled Chatterjee on a two-day ED guardianship while taking him to hospital following the prayers of his lawyers that he was unwell and in need of medical treatment. .
ED lawyers argue that Chatterjee, a senior state minister, is an influential person and should therefore not be kept in a state-run hospital.
Chatterjee’s attorneys objected to the prayer and said his treatment is being appropriately performed at SSKM hospital.
The ED suggested that Chatterjee could be treated at an AIIMS hospital with very good healthcare infrastructure.
Chatterjee was arrested by the central authority on Saturday in connection with their investigation into a school employment scam and was hospitalized for the evening after he complained of feeling ill.
