Sean Paul is pulling back the curtain on the history behind his famous name.
Jamaican rapper who was born Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques OD, has had fans singing along to his wildly popular hits on the dance floor since the early 2000s, but only NOW does he provide legitimacy to the hilarious fan theory from many years ago! As we all know, Give me light the artist has included his name in his lyrics like so many other musicians, including pitbull dog and Jason Deruloooo.
But in 2017, One curious fan tweeted:
“I used to think Sean Paul was screaming [Shivnarine] Chanderpaul at the beginning of each song in a strange tribute to Cricket players.”
Well, fast forward to 2022, and the same man just confirmed Twitter the user is not completely wrong!! In one Evil behavior Document uploaded YouTube earlier this month titled, Sean Paul’s Story of ‘Busy’ The 49-year-old musician explains:
“There was a famous cricketer in Trinidad [named] Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Everyone was like, ‘Sean da Paul,’ and that name stuck.
Okay, seriously… This has to be one of the BEST and most pertinent examples of true fan theory getting it right! Sean added:
“Then I just started saying it on shows and met the Chanderpaul guy years later, and he said, ‘Yo!’ But yes, big to Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Then, to please the fan in question, Temperature the rapper responded to his tweet, writing:
“If you didn’t know~ now you know: grow up #Chanderpaul”
