Season 6: Devil May Cry | Video games
Be strong! Season 6 of Video Games comes in style as we take a look at the Devil May Cry series! Over the next few weeks, we’ll cover the history and lore of Capcom’s launch action franchise. This week, we start from scratch unpacking one of the most influential action games ever, Devil May Cry.
Arriving in the state on October 16, 2001, the game stars Dante, a demon hunter (and half-demon himself) on a mission to stop underworld emperor Mundus from invading the human world. The game started out as Resident Evil 4, directed by a brilliant young director named Hideki Kamiya, who took the game from survival horror to stylish action. While proving the departure of Resident Evil was too drastic, Capcom knew they had something to do with the project and remade the project into its own franchise. Listen to learn how Dante was conceived, our thoughts on the game’s story, and how we overcame the game’s brutal lore.
