A total of 369 former SEC football players were on the NFL’s roster during the opening weekend of the 2022 season, up from 363 the previous season.

Alabama leads the league with 55 former NFL players, followed by LSU (51), Georgia (42) and Florida (33).

Earlier this year, the SEC led the nation’s conventions in NFL draft picks for the 16th year in a row. The nation’s top 65 NFL Draft picks tied for the most in SEC history. The SEC has averaged more than 50 selections per draft since 2006.

This is the sixth year in a row that the SEC has seen 25 or more players selected through the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. A total of 34 picks from the SEC were made in the first three rounds in 2022, second only to the SEC 40 in 2020. The most ever by a tournament outside the SEC is 25.

In the last 16 NFL Drafts, the SEC had 159 of the nation’s top players included in the opening round, averaging nearly 10 players per season. The SEC had seven of the first 15 picks of the 2022 NFL Draft and now has 135 First Round NFL Draft picks as of 2010.

Since 2010, the SEC has more than doubled the total number of First Round selections compared to the next most recent conference.
