JOHANNESBURG: Gunmen opened fire on a group of men playing dice on a street corner during a Johannesburg Police said Sunday, leaving four of them dead and two others injured.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a group of men were playing dice on a street corner around 7:30 p.m. (17:30 GMT) when they were attacked by unidentified assailants who shot at them.” police said.
“Four people were confirmed dead at the scene, while two were taken to the nearest medical care center after suffering gunshot wounds.”
Regional Police Chief Elias Mawela called the “terrible” crime scene in the southern suburbs of South Africa’s economic capital.
“They were sitting. They were attacked for no apparent reason,” he said.
An investigation has been launched and police say they have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Mass shootings are common in South Africa, one of the countries with the highest homicide rate in the world, fueled by gang violence and alcohol.
