Sonic the Hedgehog 2 beat the original film when it scored $331.64 million at the global box office. That makes it the most successful video game adaptation of all time.
It’s a good result for the film, which opens on April 8 in the US and on March 31 outside the US. That’s good news for Sega, which owns the Sonic game franchise and co-produces the film with Paramount Pictures. The film previously hit $319.71 million after hitting theaters in 2020.
