Southlake Road reopens after North Texas Rodeo Queen helps with long drive home

SOUTHLAKE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Longhorns aren’t an uncommon sight in parts of North Texas, but it’s not every day that Southlake DPS gets a call about a swarm of cows blocking the road and crashing into a graduation party.

On the afternoon of June 4, 2022, officers responded to a call about a flock of dragons circling North Peytonville. The road was closed for the next hour as officers worked to lead the cattle home.

That proved to be no easy task. The police are really not used to carrying lassos, so they have to work with the resources they have to herd and lead the giant animals back to their homes.

Thankfully, they got help from a high school sophomore they’re calling the North Texas Rodeo Queen. The girl, named Maeve, helped look after the property where the cattle belonged, police said.

At first, officials may guide the cows back home. But the cows have a different idea. They decide to ruin a graduation party in the backyard.

Through the cooperation of partygoers, Maeve, followers and police officers, the long horses were finally driven home.

Video shared on social media by Southlake DPS shows the moments the cows went home:
