BIRMINGHAM, Ala (December 5, 2022)—– According to an announcement Monday, Abby Steiner, a former University of Kentucky standout track and field athlete, has been named an NCAA Today Top 10 awardee.
Steiner was among 10 recent student-athletes to be recognized by the NCAA Honors Committee for their outstanding achievements as athletes, students, and contributors to their school and community. surname. Each awardee has completed college and is athletically qualified and is pursuing a successful future.
In June, Steiner won the NCAA titles in the 200m and 4x400m relay, after winning the indoor 200m at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. She set a college-level record in the outdoor 200m (21.80), eighth fastest in US history and 21st fastest in world history. She is a 15-time All-American champion, has 11 first-team honors, and four-time SEC championships. Steiner was named the SEC Women’s Athlete-Scholar in Athletics & Outdoors in May.
The NCAA’s top 10 awardees for 2023 are Sylvie Binder, Columbia; Jaeda Daniel, State of NC; Brooke Forde, Stanford; Naomi Girma, Stanford; Gianna Glatz, Rutgers; Blaine Hawkins, Central (Iowa); Jessica Meakim, West Chester; Jack Mulvihill, Saint John Fisher; Juan Ortiz Couder, Embry-Riddle (Florida); and Abby Steiner, Kentucky.
