Suella Braverman resigns as UK home secretary over ‘mistake’
LONDON: British Indians Home Secretary Suella Braverman resigned on Wednesday following a “mistake” in using her private email to communicate with ministers in London.
Braverman was only appointed Home Secretary 43 days ago when the British Prime Minister Liz Truss in charge at 10 Downing Street. Her departure after a face-to-face meeting with Shoes earlier on Wednesday and posted her resignation letter on her Twitter.
“I made a mistake; I accept responsibility; I resign,” the 42-year-old lawyer said.

“Not only have we broken key commitments made to voters, but I am seriously concerned about the government’s commitment to honoring manifesto commitments, such as reducing overall migration. and prevent illegal migration, especially dangerous small boats crossing the road.”
Braverman, a Conservative member of the Fareham Parliament in southeastern England, served as Attorney General in the government led by Boris Johnson. She was one of the first contenders to throw her hat into the ring instead Johnson as the leader and Prime Minister of the Tory. She was appointed Home Secretary by Prime Minister Truss.
The mother of two children is the daughter of Tamil Hindu mother Uma and Goan father Christie Fernandes. Her mother immigrated to the UK from Mauritius while her father emigrated from Kenya in the 1960s.
