Terrifying moment passenger opens plane door in MID-AIR after grabbing emergency exit lever as 9 are rushed to hospital
TERRIBLE video captures the moment the door of a passenger plane is in mid-air, causing panic on board.
Asiana Airlines flight carrying 194 passengers from Korea Jeju Island to Daegu City when the door was supposed to be forced open.
As the Airbus A321 began to descend, the door suddenly flew open.
Passengers battled over the man who allegedly tried to open the cabin door while the plane was still about 600 feet off the ground.
Among the passengers were 48 students who will participate in an athletics tournament this Saturday.
The children trembled and cried in fear as the wind blew through the cabin, witnesses said.
The mother of one of the children described panic on the plane as the cabin quickly depressurized.
She told South Korea’s Yonhap news agency: “Children were shaking and crying in panic. Those sitting near the exit must have been shocked the most.”
Heart-stopping footage shows passengers clutching their seats as the plane descends.
The plane was able to land shortly after at around 12:40pm on Friday (3:40am BST), about an hour after takeoff, fortunately with no serious injuries.
Officials said at least nine passengers were taken to hospital with difficulty breathing.
According to the island’s education office, they include eight students from Jeju.
