The Sims 4 will be released for free next month
EA publisher and developer Maxis is releasing The Sims 4 for free starting next month.
This news comes from a blog post today’s release also reveals EA will be hosting the Summit Behind The Sims on October 18 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. That was also the day The Sims 4 officially became a free-to-play game, meaning you could download the original game for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC afterward. As for why, it seems the team just wants the game to be available to anyone interested in it.
“With The Sims 4 free to play, our team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful The Sims 4 experiences for our players, and we will continue to grow and release packages, kits and Sims Delivery Express in the near future,” the blog post reads.
The post says the team will share more about this transition during the Behind The Sims Summit on October 18, so be sure to stay tuned if you’re interested. EA Play and EA Play Pro members will receive an upgraded experience when the members-only The Sims 4 bundle is added to the Play List on October 18. The EA Play version of Sims 4 includes the Expansion Pack. The Sims 4 Get To Work, while EA Play Pro includes both The Sims 4 Get To Work and The Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack.
