Finding a warm blanket that can turn me into a human burrito is difficult for a 1.8 meter tall woman like me. So many times, when I receive a standard sized blanket, I have to choose between wanting to cover my bottom half or my top half. And, even when a blanket is said to be “longer than average,” my toes are left out in the cold for the imaginary monsters under my bed to catch. So when I was sent the Original Stretch™ Blanket ($159) from Big Blanket Co., I was curious to see if it would succeed in turning me into a real burrito.
From the moment I opened the box, I knew this blanket would deliver on its BIG (size) promises. The throw is a sizable 10′-by-10′ square of heavenly luxury that you’ll want to slip into as soon as you open it. If you’re bad at math, that’s a giant 100-square-foot material—larger than your standard king size duvet or duvet. At 11 pounds, this isn’t technically a weighted blanket but it certainly has some weight that makes it a little upper body workout to lift heavy loads out of the box. contain.

Because it’s made of 4-way stretch polyester, it’s exceptionally snug and soft – the brand calls it “yoga pants in a blanket”. At 100 square feet, it’s really spacious, giving lots of space for taller people like me, etc. And if you’re worried about its weight, don’t worry; The pressure of 11 pounds is definitely felt, but less in a weighted blanket style and more like a softer hug.
However, arguably the best part is that it fits your standard size washing machine. Seriously, as long as you don’t throw anything else at it, it can be thrown in your home washing machine. That means when you inevitably spill something on it or it drools while you nap (it happens), you won’t need to take it to the laundromat or dry cleaning. Talk about a game changer.
It’s safe to say that this large blanket has become a staple for me to fit on the couch, in bed, and everywhere else I can fit underneath it. Do yourself a favor and get one from Big Blanket Co. or Amazon — there are other materials to shop for if poly blends aren’t your thing.
