The Nintendo Switch has an incredibly rich game library, with many games worth recommending. However, for our 10 absolute favorites, you can check out the list below. That’s a list we’ll update as often as the games deserve to be released. We’ll be launching games and adding new ones as the Switch library grows.
Please note that while the list below has 10 entries, we don’t actually rate them – if a game has come this far (and tries to stay here), it’s a must. play. As such, we will list the items in reverse chronological order. In addition, you will find a list of previous items at the bottom of the list. While those titles have been upgraded for a bigger and better experience, they’re still great games in their own right and worth checking out if you’ve caught up on the latest hits.

White Neon
Released: June 16, 2022
Captivating, fun and stylish, Neon White is a treat for fans of the platforming genre and early 2000s anime. As White, an assassin forced to destroy the demons of Heaven, You’ll sprint through dozens of brilliantly designed levels with an emphasis on speed. Card-based gun abilities challenge you to strategically kill enemies while using their moving skills, such as double jump or grappling hook, to progress through levels – just in seconds if you really hit your stride. A gripping story and relationship-building quests highlight the eccentric cast, and the soundtrack lends itself to an early Toonami-inspired vibe. Neon White may be the best on PC, but the game runs like a dream on Switch, and it’s hard to deny the joy of hitting leaderboard scores wherever you go. | Our review
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Released: March 25, 2022
Kirby may have been late to the 3D platformer party, but his arrival proved both fashionable and a lot of fun. His traditional copying abilities are combined with the new Mouthful Mode, which allows him to absorb larger objects, such as cars, and disguise their matter to solve clever puzzles about environment. It’s the loveliest form of body horror we’ve ever seen. The vibrant and striking post-apocalyptic playground is a blast to explore, and the story has some surprising twists and turns. Kirby has no shortage of games, but The Forgotten Land is his most prominent game since Epic Yarn. | Our review
Legendary Pokémon: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is considered the biggest change of pace to the longstanding franchise. Set in an ancient version of Sinnoh, you are tasked with exploring a vast world to complete the first Pokédex. Although not a true open world, the feeling of freedom still offers a sense of freedom as well as a less restrictive combat system where players can freely snoop, challenge and even evade Pokémon. We love capturing never-before-seen versions of our favorite pocket monsters and a host of side quests, plus a gripping main story that keeps us glued to our Switch screens. me. fear of Metroid
Released: October 8, 2021
Metroid fans have been begging Nintendo for a brand new 2D Metroid adventure for nearly two decades. Thankfully, when Nintendo finally delivered, it didn’t disappoint. True to its name, Dread is an intense experience, filled with challenging boss battles and deadly cyborgs that relentlessly chase Samus across the various biomes of Planet ZDR. Metroid’s classic exploration-based platform is still intact, and we’re eagerly on the hunt for new upgrades like the Ghost Cloak and Spider Magnet. The race to 100 percent is over so quickly, but we can’t wait to see what Dread’s big story reveals what it means for the future of the series. | Our review
Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: The quiet, low-stress New Horizons comes out at the right time in the world. With the news cycle becoming more chaotic since 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers refuge in the form of a virtual tropical island. Building and customizing your house and island the way you see fit is incredibly rewarding as New Horizons offers an exciting daily loop full of goals and rewards. | Our review
Fire symbol: Three houses

The Fire Emblem series has built a cult following through handheld platforms in recent years, but with Three Houses, the turn-based strategy series is exploding back on TV in the best possible way. Featuring outstanding strategy gameplay, a story fun to interact with and influence, as well as multiple paths to travel throughout the story, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is one of the best strategy games out there. Super Smash Bros. Final

A crossover event in two formative decades, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate represents the series in its most realistic form. Contains great combat mechanics, a great set of modes to play, and a roster of fighters featuring every character in the series history and then several, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is almost an essential title for the Switch. | Our review
Super Mario Odyssey

Every Nintendo console must have at least a great Mario platform, and the Switch is no exception. Mario Odyssey was released a few months after the console’s launch, and it hits all the necessary Mario checkboxes to be considered classic, along with some surprising new checkboxes. It’s whimsical, has perfect controls, lots of things to explore, and has a city level where everyone has normal proportions while Mario runs around with his little cartoonish body . Luxury Mario Kart 8
Released: April 28, 2017
More than just a simple port of the excellent Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, Deluxe includes all of the game’s DLC (additional tracks, racers, and cars) and a Battle Mode, which is not included in the original version. oddly original release. Playing split-screen Mario Kart has always been a hit, and having a version of the game with two controllers that you can take anywhere makes it the perfect performer for the Switch. | Our review
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

We’re not exaggerating when we say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best games ever made. We gave it a rare 10/10 in review and gave it Our 2017 Game of the Year award because it sets a new high standard for open world video games. Being able to go anywhere you can see on the map has never been more true than in Breath of the Wild, and it’s also packed with the kind of stellar puzzle design you’ve come to expect from a Zelda experience. It’s a journey you’ll never forget, and the optional DLC packs add new challenges and items worth pursuing in the afterlife. | Our review
