Truck hits cyclist, fireworks stand in DC, killing 2 people
WASHINGTON –
A truck rammed a cyclist and crashed into a fireworks stand Saturday night at an intersection in northeastern Washington, DC, police said. working in the stands died. No other injuries have been reported.
The crash on the corner of Minnesota Avenue and Nannie Helen Burroughs NE Avenue occurred around 5:30 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. The adult male victims are presumed dead at the scene.
Assistant Sheriff Wilfredo Manlapaz said the driver of the truck appeared to have received medical attention when the crash happened and was being treated at a local hospital. Manlapaz said the cyclist was crossing the crosswalk when he was hit.
