Trumann Church spreads hope through prayer walk

Trumann, Ark. (KAIT) – The Congregation of McCormick Baptist Church took their faith down the street on Sunday afternoon for the 22nd Annual Prayer Walk.

Pastor Rick Kimery said this year’s prayer walk is more important than ever, after a few devastating years in the past.

Pastor Kimery said: “We thought it would be great to be encouraged and we could pray along the way and show the love of Christ.

Kimery added that it’s important for people to surround themselves with a community that loves them because “together we can do more than we can.”

Amid the EF-2 tornado and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, religious leader Bailey Jones said there may be someone in the community in need of a safe place.

“We want to be a safe place,” says Jones. “A safe haven for people who have been through a difficult time and even those who are fine. We just never knew.”

Jones adds that she’s working as a nurse at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital, saying she’s seen “a lot of heartache and a lot of brokenness because of the pandemic,” and that she tries to be a blessing to others. others in the community and her work. .

Participants in the prayer walk carried palm leaves to celebrate Palm Sunday.
