MANILA, Philippines—National University Concentration defeated the deflated Far Eastern University, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16, in the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament at San Juan Arena.

The Bulldogs have maintained their winning streak in sixth place of the season thanks to the team’s “concentration” despite the unfortunate first incident where FEU’s CJ Cabatac suffered a serious injury.

Coach Dante Alinsunurin said: “We have to give our best in every game because our goal is to be focused, every training session I remind them of that.

“I have seen many such cases. Unfortunately, it actually happens in the game but we have to refocus on what we want to happen. What happened was an accident,” lamented Alinsunurin.

NU was leading 17-13 as Michaelo Buddin attempted a kill with Cabatac preparing for a block. On the way down, Cabatac stepped on Buddin’s foot and broke the bone in his right leg.

The incident seemed to have cost the Tamaraws big time, as they were unable to regain their momentum, losing in the first set 25-20.

It looked like the Tamaraws got back into shape in the second set, keeping up with NU with a 17-all, only to let the Bulldogs take the lead 5-1, 22-18. FEU survived 24-20, with a chance to make a run and end the game in the first set, Zhydryx Saavedra failed to serve to give NU a 2-0 lead.

Despite the Tamaraws showing vibrancy in the third inning, the Bulldogs continued their 5-0 lead to a vital 16-12 lead and kept their composure until late with Nico Almendras closing the game. fight with a kill.

Almendras and Buddin counted 11 points for the undefeated Bulldogs and top seed.

Mark Calado was a one-man performance for the FEU, which fell 5–2 during the season, scoring 19 points in the loss.
