UAAP Volleyball: UP ends four-game miss, sweeps UE

MANILA, Philippines – The University of the Philippines is on a four-game losing streak after losing to University of the East 25-23, 26-24, 25-17 on Thursday in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball match at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Fighting Maroons waited until the third set to weed out the hard-fought Lady Warriors, taking a 22-14 lead on their way to their fourth win against four losses.

“It’s been a while. Like I said before, like any other team, we have difficulty, we have to find our rhythm. We want to win, we want to win a lot. more and that’s what we’re doing,” said Fighting Maroons head coach Godfrey Okumu.

UP’s final victory is over University of Santo Tomas, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, last May 10.

Alyssa Bertolano led the Fighting Maroons with 14 points to help Lady Warriors have their eighth consecutive defeat.

UP’s next task is to UST, who are on a three-game winning streak, while UE tries for its first win over Adamson on Saturday.
