US lawmakers discuss Boeing 737 MAX certification deadlines

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. lawmakers are holding in-depth discussions on whether to extend key certification deadlines for two new versions of Boeing’s best-selling 737 MAX (NYSE: NYSE) , the lawmakers and aides said.
The largest US aircraft manufacturer is seeking an extension from Congress on a December deadline to impose a new safety standard for state-of-the-art cockpit warnings for the 737 MAX 7 and 737 MAX 10.
Senate Commerce Committee Chairwoman Maria Cantwell told Reuters late on Tuesday: “We want to push for safety improvements and we’ll see what happens – some just want a direct extension. next”.
