US supports Chinese people's 'right to peaceful protest': White House

A White House spokesman said the US supports the right to peaceful protest in China.

The White House on Monday said it supports the right of the Chinese people to peacefully protest against the COVID-19 lockdown and that it does not see the supply chain impact of the protests.

White House national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters: “Everyone should be allowed… the right to assemble and peacefully protest against policies, laws or orders… They think there’s a problem.” “The White House supports the right to peaceful protest.”

Kirby also said the US has not received any requests from China for a COVID-19 vaccine.
