LUCKY: National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Basit Kalam Siddiqui (24) from Varanasi on Wednesday. The NIA carried out a search operation in Varanasi late on the night of October 18 at the defendant’s premises.
During the search, the NIA seized incriminating articles such as handwritten notes related to the making of IEDs and explosives, cell phones, laptops, and pen sockets.
The NIA said that Basit’s name appeared during interrogation with six of the same modules arrested on June 29, 2021.
The NIA said that during the investigation, it was found that the arrested defendant was actively engaged in radicalization and recruiting radical youth on behalf of the government. ISIS from India.

The NIA also said that the defendant was actively in contact with those running ISIS operations and was passionate about creating, publishing, and disseminating ISIS propaganda through the magazine ‘Voice of Khurasan’.
The NIA said he is also receiving training in how to make explosives, through several Telegram Groups he runs, to carry out terrorist attacks against Critical Facilities and civilians.
