(Reuters) -Verizon Communications Inc stopped providing internet service to thousands of users on Thursday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
According to Downdetector, there are more than 2,000 incidents where people report problems to their wireless service provider, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources including user-submitted errors on its foundation.
The company’s landline and mobile communications services, including broadband internet and telephones, were down and most incidents were reported in Fayetteville, New York City, Miami, Philadelphia. , Brooklyn, Charlotte, Baltimore, Fort Bragg and Santa Rosa, according to Downdetector.
Outages began to spike around 12 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Verizon (NYSE:) did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
