Himachal Pradesh Parliament Speaker Pratibha Singh, wife of former premier Virbhadra Singh, and her son Vikramaditya Singh congratulated party staff after defeating BJP in parliamentary elections.
Pratibha Singh said they will not forget the legacy of the former minister as the party fought the election on his behalf and won. Vikramaditya Singh also won from Shimla Rural seat.
Vikramaditya Singh told NDTV: “We have been working on the ground for the last 5 years and we know that people have not been satisfied with this so-called dual engine ki sarkar, and we are very sure that it will power cut off”.
Regarding his father’s legacy, Vikramaditya Singh said: “As a son, I miss him. But I can say that he is immortal and continues to live in the hearts and minds of the people of the state. Results proved it. His school of thought will work and be seen a lot in the next government.”
Earlier, Pratibha Singh told reporters that when Virbhadra Singh was prime minister, “he spent most of his life developing Himachal.”
Pratibha Singh said: “Wherever he goes, if people ask if they want a school or want money for gardening, he will provide money and help people.” She said: “The people of Himachal gave the BJP a chance and compared what Virbhadra ji did, only to find that the BJP was not good at all.
After an early scare, the National Assembly won 40 seats in Himachal Pradesh, a comfortable majority, with the BJP at 25. The Aam Aadmi Party did not win a single seat.
In terms of vote share, the National Assembly was slightly ahead of the BJP with 43.88% of the vote. BJP is second with 42.99%.
