To wrap up today’s PlayStation Showcase, Sony and Insomniac have announced major sites for a fresh look at Spider-Man 2. The long-awaited sequel is currently targeting a release this fall and an extended game series that shows us what we can expect.
ONE cinematic opening reveals some insight into the villain Kraven the Hunter. Tired of easy prey in the deep jungle, one of his minions suggests moving to a new hunting ground in New York, where the likes of Spider-Man, Black Cat, and Tombstone promise challenging goals. more awake.
The action shifts six months later in Queens, when black-clad Peter Parker bursts out from the basement to battle some of the Hunter’s goblins. The game sequence that follows is impressive, showcasing Spider-Man’s new symbiote ability, allowing for a range of tentacle attacks that can often take down multiple opponents at once.
After the battle, Peter learns that Kraven’s team is on the hunt for Doctor Connors, aka the Lizard. And since the hunt is going on in Harlem, he won’t be able to get there in time. He immediately called Miles and the perspective changed, suggesting the game (during single player) allows switching between the two main characters of Spider-Man.
Miles has some new tricks of his own, including some dexterous wingsuit abilities that help him move at high speeds between buildings and gridlines that allow him to chart his own path. to take down enemies from above in stealth journeys.
After a scene trying to track down the Lizard, we learn that Connors has shed his skin and is clearly evolving into a larger reptile form, with an equally greater appetite. After bonding with his friend, Ganke, and the ominous appearance of Peter in his black symbiote suit, a thrilling chase scene takes place below the East River, where Peter and Miles are Take down drones, jet skis, and boats as Kraven’s team chases the Lizard.
While it’s not clear why Peter and Miles were interested in saving the Lizard (traditionally a villain in the series), it seems they needed some information from him, to keep him alive. omission.
The rest of the series is just as interesting, from a splash in the water to a run-of-the-mill escape along the water when the Lizard tries to attack from below. From animation to pacing to camera action – the whole sequence doesn’t look like it will feel out of place in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. Except, of course, Spider-Man 2 is a fully interactive experience where the player controls two Spider-Man along the way.
When the extended demo ends, we see Peter acting in a very different way from Peter, doubling down on the aggressive and dangerous tendencies he exhibits throughout the sequence, making Miles worry about his friend and his advisor.
Amid some notable revelations and new videos during this afternoon’s PlayStation Showcase, Spider-Man 2 stands out for its remarkable polish, intense action, and focus on complete and uncut game sequences. trim. The game looks great and is one to watch closely ahead of its launch later this year.
