When does The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premiere and how to watch it

The New Lord of the Rings series Rings of Power will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, September 1 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Main video. After that, the remaining episodes of the show will follow the standard schedule for more than a week, falling at 12 a.m. ET on Friday / 9 p.m. PDT on Thursday. The first season will be eight episodes long, ending on October 14.

Viewers will be able to find the show on Prime Video’s homepage starting Thursday night.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power happen in The Second Age of Middle-earththousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien. But that doesn’t mean some familiar characters won’t appear – after all, goblins live really, really, really long time, and wizards are basically demigods. Until now, younger versions of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) act in the first part. The show is not based on any particular Tolkien book, but instead his pages and Appendix pages explore the history of Middle-earth.
