Woman pleads guilty in 2019 crash that killed beloved Anson County teacher – WSOC TV

ANSON COUNTY, NC – Nearly three years after a beloved teacher was killed in an accident in Anson County, the woman who caused the crash has pleaded guilty, authorities have confirmed.

Authorities say Bethany Haywood pleaded guilty to felony death while driving and driving while impaired in a 2019 crash that struck Anson High School teacher Dr Kimberly Ingold.

The crash occurred on September 7, 2019 along North Carolina Highway 27. Soldiers said Haywood, who was driving a small tanker truck, fell asleep while driving and collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite lane. The tanker then crossed the middle line and crashed into the vehicle Ingold was driving.

Ingold was killed in the crash, the soldiers said.

This week, Haywood was sentenced to 36 months of probation for each count, with five months to be served immediately, authorities said. If she violates probation, she will face between 64 and 89 months in prison, according to the Montgomery County court clerk.
